Deceptive-Logic

Rather than bringing good news about how much progress I'm making on V2, I'm here to say that I'm going to be on vacation for the next couple of days. Unfortunately, due the massive amount of spam I am receiving from the thousands of hits I get from some rather dodgy sites, I have disabled pretty much all posting. I have left the forums open so you can still read them if need-be, but you won't be able to post.

While I'm here, I am pretty much tired of coding the same old stuff over and over again, and since I lack creativity, I have opened a thread in the forums to guests so you don't have to register to post suggestions. If you have any ideas of things you like to see in sites, I encourage you to make a post once the forums are reopened.

I figured I would take this time to explain this month's poll. To be honest, it is completely random and I don't expect many to vote, but hopefully it will be a little fun.

I was just taking a shower, and as I went to open the shampoo, I remembered something. A long time ago I tried to do the same thing, what a concept eh? Well the bottle had one of those caps where you push down on the back and the front opens up. I had the front facing me at the time, and by some random stroke of luck, a glob of shampoo sprang out and hit me square in the eye. Well I gotta be honest, that wasn't too pleasant of a feeling. So, just today I realized that nearly every time I go to open a bottle of shampoo, I remember that day (awkward, isn't it?).

That's the basic idea behind this poll. Is there a single moment that you relive almost every time you try and do something, and if so, was the event you relive pleasurable, or painful? So now's the point where you ask why school is one of the options, right? Let's just say I like random answers to polls, they make life more interesting... Of course, if you don't want to think that, then assume you never read this post and treat the poll like the question implies

As the holidays have rolled around and I've yet to make a post since late July, I figure it's time to let some of you know what is going on. To sum up, life has been slowing me down; I've had an interesting past few months and have barely had time to log on long enough to keep the spam levels down. The bad news is, until summer rolls around, things could end up that way again.

The good news is, the thought of upgrading this site to V2 is definitely looking like it might actually happen. I've got a template, new templating system, and best of all, a working phpBB login. What does that mean? It means that I've discovered the phpBB login tutorial on this site is really not that great of a tutorial, in fact, it's quite worthless. It also means, I've cracked the code and will eventually write a full walkthrough of how to go about getting it to work (but like everything else around here, that is quite a ways down the road).

I finally had some time to sit down and do some work a couple days ago, so I went ahead and did some much needed updates to a couple of the PHP tutorials here. The biggest update was to the phpBB Stats on Index tutorial. If you're reading this, and you used that tutorial without modifying it, I would recommend going through it again and updating any version of it you have.

Other then that, things haven't changed much around here. Our affiliate pixel2life is planning to release their hammertime project Tuesday, if all goes well, and I must say, a lot of people are going to be happy when it comes out

Well, unlike the title implies, there hasn't been much progress. I do believe I got a couple things with some tutorials fixed, still need to fix a couple more. But so far summer has been more entertaining then I expected it to be
So, by the end of the summer, expect something to get done, just not as much as I promised.

Well, like the past 5 or so updates, nothing new is happening, so how is that good news right? Well, school's finally out, that means that after simply being lazy for this next week, my schedule opens up next week, and I shouldn't have a problem finding time to get things done
So, come June, there should be a bit more activity going on, I'll hopefully fix/update a few of the tutorials around here, update the DBMS, and finally finish the FMS.

This update is coming a little later than usual due to having to spend what little free time I had fixing an error on the forum. It was basically getting spammed to death, so I made a small change that essentially disabled private messaging. But it's all fixed up now, and there's probably nobody that was on enough to notice it.
Other then that, there isn't much of anything else to report other then the fact that I officially no longer have any free time till summer. So when that comes around, hopefully my plans won't change, and we'll begin to see some updates around here.
